Just
as the abandoned and decayed abbeys and castles so inspired the poets and painters
of the Romantic Period, as symbols of forgotten achievements, I envision the
rusted old automobile as an icon representing dreams and freedoms long past.
Today's cars are smarter, safer, faster, longer lasting, but at the price of
their individual expression, have become little more than appendages totally
taken for granted. My artwork reflects a period where the auto represented so
much more, where it gave the common man a sense of worth and freedom. |
